People: Man in clifftop village becomes online celebrity

Yang Yang, a 22-year-old villager from Atuleer village in Sichuan province, has attracted tens of thousands of fans by livestreaming his ascent up a steep ladder and giving an insight into his clifftop village which became famous a year ago. His commentary is humorous and he also promotes the village's farm products such as honey, smoked bacon and potatoes. The remote mountaintop village hit the headlines when reports emerged of villagers, including students, braving 800 meters of a perilous cliff-face ladder ascent or descent to go in or out of the village. After the story went viral, the village received an outpouring of support, including a newly built steel ladder and internet and 4G connectivity.
