Tibet to build more cremation facilities

LHASA - The Tibet autonomous region will build five funeral homes geared toward cremation, and renovate two others by 2020, as cremation is becoming increasingly accepted by Tibetan people.

The projects are expected to cost 370 million yuan ($56 million). Four new funeral facilities are planned in the cities of Nyingchi and Lhokha, and in Nagchu and Ngari prefectures, according to civil affairs authorities.

Each new facility will cost 60 million yuan. In addition, a funeral parlor in the city of Shigatse costing 50 million yuan is under construction.
