Seven probed in deadly fire

Authorities are investigating seven officials and police officers, including a deputy head of Chaoyang district's Shibalidian township, after a fire that killed five people and injured nine others on Wednesday morning, according to qianlong.com, the news website operated by the Beijing municipal government. The district's commission for discipline inspection is examining the responsibility of the officials and officers, including Huang Haidong, deputy head of the township; Yan Ziyi, the township's section chief for safety supervision; and Yun Fei, deputy head of the township's police station, according to the website.
