Australian Navy chief seeks to maintain trust

By Zhang Zhihao | China Daily | Updated: 2017-12-15 08:05

The Chinese and Australian navies want to maintain mutual trust and deepen cooperation despite the recent war of words over accusations of Chinese influence in Australia's politics, senior officers and experts said on Thursday.

Vice Admiral Tim Barrett, chief of navy of the Royal Australian Navy, made the comment during his planned visit to the People's Liberation Army National Defense University in Beijing on Thursday.

Barrett said at a seminar of military experts from the university that he hopes the two navies will keep working together in humanitarian aid and disaster relief and will facilitate the healthy growth of military-to-military relations.
