Biz: Concrete water pipe home unveiled in HK

An OPod Tube House, which could help tackle Hong Kong's affordable housing shortage, attracted a great deal of attention at the Design Inspire exhibition in the city last week. Conceived by James Law Cybertecture, the house is an experimental low cost, micro-living unit constructed out of a 2.5-meter diameter concrete water pipe. The design ultilizes a strong concrete structure to house an apartment for one or two people with living, cooking and bathroom facilities inside its 9.29 square meters. Each tube house is equipped with smartphone locks for online access, and functional furniture.
