Klopp defends derby tinkering

China Daily | Updated: 2017-12-12 07:40

LIVERPOOL - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has defended his rotation policy after Everton upset the odds by earning a 1-1 Merseyside derby draw on Sunday.

Mohamed Salah had put the Reds ahead with a stunning curling effort, but the Toffees were awarded a penalty late in the second half when Dejan Lovren appeared to push over Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Wayne Rooney duly dispatched from the spot - his first goal in six Merseyside derby appearances - to ensure Sam Allardyce's side took a share of the spoils at Anfield.
