Patrols stepped up to protect gulls

More than 120 people have patrolled Haigeng Dam in Kunming every day since Sunday to protect the area's black-headed gulls. The patrol was increased after four reports in five days of people catching gulls to use as props in photo-graphs. Tourists and locals have been urged to treat the birds with care, as the black-headed gull is under State protection.
