5 killed, 3 hurt in scaffold collapse

Five people were killed and three others injured when a scaffold collapsed on Wednesday afternoon at a construction site, local authorities said on Thursday. The incident occurred in Jianshi county as workers were dismantling an old Industrial and Commercial Bank of China office building, according to the county government. Three of the victims were local food and drug inspection officials working near the site. Three pedestrians were injured in the accident. Six people were held in police custody in connection with the incident.
