Editor's note: The Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, has been frequently included in foreign leaders' itineraries while they visited Beijing in recent decades. Media reports say that US President Donald Trump is likely to visit the museum during his first state visit to China starting on Wednesday. Serving as China's imperial palace from 1420 to 1911, and located on the axis of Beijing city, it is the largest imperial architecture complex and collection of wooden construction in the world. The following is a brief introduction to some of the most notable places in the museum.
