300,000 ancient coins unearthed

Around China

More than 5.6 metric tons of ancient coins were unearthed at a construction site in Fuliang county on Oct 23. Archaeologists said the 300,000 ancient coins are from the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and have been under the ground for more than 800 years. Why such a large number of coins was buried under a 100-square-meter residential house is unclear, said Feng Ruqin, director of Fuliang Museum.
