Joint patrol starts on Mekong River

A new round of joint patrols on the Mekong River with law enforcement officers from China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand started on Thursday. Seven ships are participating in the 63rd mission. The ships set sail from Guanlei Port in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province and will travel over 500 kilometers in four days. During the new patrol, officers will carry out a security survey and review the current security and hydrological situation of the river. The patrols started five years ago to tackle safety concerns over shipping on the river.
