What to say to get a pay rise

While most of us will experience the nerve-racking task of asking our boss for a pay rise at some point during our working lives, many employees don't realize that they can negotiate with a prospective employer before they even take a job.

According to a new study of 1,200 British workers, around 52 percent of employees have haggled with a potential employer over a job offer, with a further 72.8 percent getting the deal they wanted.

When asked by job board CV-Library what key areas they would negotiate on within a job offer, respondents said the salary, working hours, flexible working, benefits and holiday allowance.
