China's long term economic development plan has proven to be very effective. I am keen to know more about the country's next long-term national development agenda. We know China's objective in transforming itself. As a world leading science and technology company from Germany, we would like to partner with China on research and development and its manufacturing capability upgrade.

We see this as China's big step into globalization and playing a more assertive role in the global arena. It will also enhance China's position as a global manufacturer. Chinese manufacturers are already adopting world leading technologies and introducing high end raw materials to be competitive in the world market.

We must remember that the Belt and Road Initiative is very much complimentary from a long-term perspective. The most important opportunities come at the interface of these initiatives. For example, the combination between economies related to the Belt and Road Initiative and the current healthcare reforms shows new ways to leverage innovation in healthcare from China and to China.
