Solar contest sets scene for energy ties

US, China urged to use event to boost cooperation

DENVER, Colorado - In the hot desert sun northeast of downtown Denver, a small cluster of buildings erected almost overnight is drawing attention.

The 2017 Solar Decathlon, held about 9 kilometers outside the city, drew 11 teams from three countries - nine from United States and one each from the Netherlands and Switzerland - in an attempt to build the most energy efficient structure in just 10 days.
