Poetry event helps kids with hearing loss

Two poetry events were held in Beijing to celebrate the International Day for the Deaf last month. A group of children recovering from hearing problems also gave public readings. Nonprofit foundation I-db, which put on the event, called for greater awareness about people who suffer from deafness. Ticket sales from the readings will be donated to help poor children with hearing problems. Statistics show 120 million Chinese people are deaf or partially deaf, including 200,000 children younger than seven. I-db, which was founded in 2012 by about 30 broadcasters, has financially helped 2,500 poor families with children suffering from hearing loss.
