China's rising star Li Haotong, who shot to fame by finishing third at the British Open in July, is aiming for a memorable debut at this week's CIMB Classic as Asia attempts to deliver its first winner in the PGA's Malaysian tournament.

The 22-year-old is among a strong lineup of leading golfers from the continent, including South Korea's Kim Si-woo, who won The Players Championship in May, compatriot Whee Kim, Chinese Taipei's CT Pan, India's Anirban Lahiri and world No 3 Hideki Matsuyama of Japan.

PGA Tour stars have dominated the event since its inception in 2010, with American world No 4 Justin Thomas returning to defend his title at TPC Kuala Lumpur from Oct 12-15.
