Confidence crucial in nurturing next generation

Along with Disneyland, the Wuhan Open is one of the few places that can apparently make a child willingly wait in line for hours.

"She likes tennis ... it attracts her attention," said Shen Yin, a mom who brought her 4-year-old daughter to see WTA's Premier 5 event on the weekend. "I'm surprised that she is so eager to get to the court. She is even more energetic than I am.

"She is too young to tell if she can really devote herself to tennis, but if she is interested, I will let her have a try. It's important to let her experience and even inherit the spirit of tennis."
