China renews alert for rainstorms

China's national weather observatory renewed its yellow alert on Sunday, the second-lowest in a four-tier color-coded weather warning system for rainstorms, as heavy rain is expected in eastern and southern regions. From Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon, heavy rain is expected in parts of Sichuan, Shaanxi, Hubei, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hainan, Guangdong provinces and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and in Shanghai, according to the National Meteorological Center. Up to 140 millimeters of rain is expected in some areas.
