The First Silk Road International Innovation Design Week kicked of on Sept 21 in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, attracting top professionals and hundreds of representatives from colleges, institutes and well-known enterprises.
The professionals attending the event included academician Xu Zhilei from the China Academy of Engineering Physics and Pulitzer Architecture Award winner Thom Mayne.
Over the week, attendees will share their ideas on current topics in fields such as science and technology, education and industrial design, as well as on economic issues related to innovation-driven transformation in China.
A research institute specializing in Silk Road innovation design will be established during the event, together with many cooperative projects.
The institute aims to build a platform to boost cooperation and innovation in design education, entrepreneurship, sustainable development and cultural exchanges between Xi'an and the countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road initiative.
The design week will involve 3,000 participants, about 200 enterprises, around 50 colleges and universities, and more than 10 million online audience members. The forum's high-level exhibitions each have different characteristics, help to form a good social atmosphere of respect, support and encouragement for innovation design, aiming to build outstanding brands with global influence.
