Hubei
Adviser expelled from Party, office
Liu Shanqiao, former chairman of the People's Political Consultative Conference of Hubei province, was expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from public office for corruption and violations of the Party's code of conduct. Liu tried to impede an investigation by the Party and took bribes to help people gain promotions, according to a statement from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the top watchdog, which announced its investigation in June. He failed to report personal information accurately and traded power and money for sex, the statement said.
