Ant Financial in tree planting drive

Alibaba's financial affiliate Ant Financial announced in September that it will pour more than 200 million yuan ($30.6 million) in helping desertification control in regions involving in the Belt and Road Initiative. Since August 2016, if netizens plant a visual tree on its online platform, the company said it will plant a real tree on the planet. By August, more than 230 million users have helped plant 10.25 million real trees. Chen Long, chief strategy officer of the company, said he hoped to bring the model to the global stage since small changes can make a big difference.
