China Daily | Updated: 2017-09-12 08:02

HANGZHOU - In a town 60 kilometers from the city of Hangzhou, a group of Chinese ink brush manufacturers is struggling to survive at a time when people are forgetting how to write by hand.

Ma Wanbiao, 30, quit his job at a telecom company to work at his father's writing brush factory in Shanlian Township, his hometown as well as the traditional home of Chinese ink brushes.

"I don't know how to make writing brushes," Ma said. "To be honest, the job is not profitable."
