Millions rise out of poverty

China lifted about 14 million people out of poverty from 2012 to 2016, and the annual per capita income in impoverished rural areas has grown 10.7 percent per year, according to a report from the State Council released on Tuesday. The report on poverty relief work was submitted for review at the five-day bimonthly session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, which opened on Monday.
