Drinking pals sued over child's death

A court has yet to pass a verdict on a lawsuit filed by a single mother, surnamed Lu, against her drinking companions after Lu's 3-year-old daughter was killed in a traffic accident in Changzhou. Lu, 22, insisted on riding her bike home with her daughter after drinking during a meal one night in October. Her daughter was killed when the bike ran into a truck. After an investigation, Lu was found to bear the main responsibility for the accident. Lu asked her four drinking companions to pay her 260,000 yuan ($38,980) compensation on the grounds that they failed to stop her drinking and take her home.
