Many lovebirds are splurging on long-haul flights for Qixi, or "Chinese Valentine's Day", which falls on Aug 28 this year.

Bookings with HHtravel, a luxury brand under China's biggest online travel agency, Ctrip, surged 35 percent during this period, chief operating officer Guo Ming says. Per-capita spending ranges from 100,000 yuan to 120,000 yuan ($14,970 - $17,960).

HHtravel has announced the most-popular destinations for its affluent and amorous customers during the period.
