Phone thief caught due to flight delays

A suspected thief was apprehended at the boarding gate at Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport on Aug 10 after his flight was delayed twice. The theft of two phones valued about 8,000 yuan ($1,200) and a watch was reported to Hangzhou East Police Station on Aug 5. After checking video surveillance footage, police identified a suspect, surnamed Jiang, at around 5:30 pm. They found the man had purchased a ticket for a flight from Hangzhou to Haikou, Hainan province, at 5:50 pm. Due to the flight being delayed twice, police were able to stop the man before he boarded.
