Former legislator under investigation

Wei Minzhou, a former senior legislator in Shaanxi province, is being investigated on suspicion of accepting bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said on Tuesday. Wei had been deputy Party chief of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Congress since January. He has been placed under "coercive measures", which may include summons, bail, residential surveillance, detention or arrest.
