Sino-Russian naval maneuvers to start on Friday

The first stage of Sino-Russian naval exercises - Joint Sea 2017 - will begin in the Baltic Sea on Friday. Ten ships and 10 aircraft will participate in the weeklong drill. The Chinese naval flotilla, comprising the CNS Hefei, the CNS Yuncheng and the CNS Luomahu, set off for the exercises from their home port in Sanya, Hainan province, on June 18. In addition to strengthening naval preparedness, the maneuvers are also aimed at enhancing cooperation between Russian and Chinese forces.
