China seizes 11.5 tons of drugs

Chinese police seized 11.5 metric tons of drugs during an operation to crack down on drug production that was launched in February, an official said on Friday. Liu Yuejin, deputy director of the China National Narcotic Control Commission, said the drugs accounted for nearly 40 percent of the total seized nationwide in the same period. Up to 89 drug laboratories were destroyed and 575 suspects arrested during the operation.
