Govt will buy Patriot missile system

The US agreed to sell Patriot missile defense systems to Poland in a memorandum signed on Wednesday night, Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz said. In March, Poland said it expected to sign a deal worth up to $7.6 billion to buy eight such defense systems by the end of this year.

Holiday leaves 100 gunfire victims

The country celebrated Independence Day with a long weekend. But in Chicago, more than 100 were hit by gunfire, with 14 dying of their wounds, the Chicago Tribune said on Wednesday. The youngest victim was just 13 years old and the eldest 60, the newspaper said.
