Lecture introduces US design system
A lecture on the United States design patent system was held by the China Intellectual Property Training Center and US-based Finnegan law firm. Experts said that high-tech sectors, such as the electronics industry, are witnessing dynamic and intensive innovation activities, and design patents are an important part of companies' innovation strategy and the global patent map.

The 2017 International Symposium on Geographical Indications kicked off in Yangzhou on Thursday, attracting about 300 guests from nearly 60 countries and regions. Paper-cutting pro teaches families
Zhou Kun, a noted paper-cutting artist in Nanjing, hosted a lecture entitled "Perceiving Culture and Inheriting Intangible Cultural Heritage" on Monday in the city. Nearly 100 parents and children learned from Zhou about the art's history, the implied meanings of paper-cut patterns and paper-cutting techniques. Some participants said they benefited significantly from the activity and became more interested in paper-cutting.

Province plans to support industry
The province hopes to house 100 companies with more than 100 patent applications each annually in IP-intensive sectors by 2020, according to a plan recently released by local IP authorities. It will also develop three to five IP-intensive industry clusters and set up a mechanism for fostering such industries, including formulating management methods, establishing statistical approaches and promoting commercialization of research results from companies, parks and research institutes.

Customs seizes fake Adidas slippers
Ruili customs recently seized more than 15,000 pairs of counterfeit Adidas slippers. The officials found the shoes, either bearing similar trademarks to Adidas or using a similar design of Adidas slippers, when inspecting a truck on its way to a border market. The owner of the goods failed to present any certificate to manufacture or sell the goods.
