Permit system reformed to benefit manufacturing
The executive meeting of the State Council decided to eliminate or dispatch to lower-level governments approval power for a number of industrial production criteria. Altogether, 19 preproduction approval permits were eliminated at the meeting, including permits for producing water pipes and storage batteries. Through streamlining approval procedures, China aims to improve innovation and quality of its manufacturing sectors, according to the meeting convened on Wednesday. After the adjustment, 38 products still need to go through preproduction approval procedures. Meanwhile, the power to approve eight types of products, such as fertilizer, was moved to local quality examination departments.
