Mexico fines Renault for environmental, licensing violations
French carmaker Renault has been fined 17.1 million pesos ($941,000) by the Mexican government for importing and selling almost 12,000 new vehicles without the right environmental certificates, the federal government announced on Thursday. Mexico's Federal Attorney for the Environment Protection, or Profepa, said that Renault's Mexican subsidiary did not obtain 11 Mexican certificates it needed before importing and selling its 2015 and 2016 vehicle models in the country. The inspection of Renault's facilities took place within a Profepa revision program of all the carmakers working in Mexico to ensure they are adhering to environmental standards.
