Pollution penalties getting tougher
Polluting companies were fined 420 million yuan ($61.8 million) in the first four months - nearly double the same period last year, the Ministry of Environmental Protection said on Thursday. More than 1,900 companies have been shut down or have suspended production over pollution in the first four months.
