People: Jilin farmer aids villagers, puts out fires

Sun Shanying, from Kangdaying town, Jilin province, has voluntarily helped extinguish more than 500 fires over the past 12 years, costing him nearly 600,000 yuan ($87,000). The 51-year-old farmer bought an old fire truck for 68,000 yuan in 2005. The idea came following a costly fire at his younger brother's home. After buying the truck, Sun changed the last three digits of his telephone to 119 to help villagers find him in an emergency.
