WASHINGTON - Researchers said on Monday they had removed HIV from the genomes of living animals, giving hope that the AIDS virus could be eliminated in humans.
In a study published in the journal Molecular Therapy, researchers at Temple University and the University of Pittsburgh in the United States said they had removed the HIV virus which can lead to AIDS in animal testing.
In one of the phases, "humanized" mice were transplanted with human immune cells and infected with the virus.
