Farmer hired car to defraud women

A 47-year-old farmer, surnamed Li, who passed himself off as a rich overseas returnee to defraud women, was recently detained in Huai'an. Li, who drove a hired luxury car while dating local women, was detained in the house he rented after police launched an investigation earlier this month. A victim, surnamed Wang, sought police help when she lost contact with Li after lending him 5,000 yuan ($727). Li had asked Wang to lend him the money, saying his wallet had been stolen. Li was found to have defrauded four female victims out of a total of 50,000 yuan in two months.
