Russian ship sinks after collision
A Russian ship which collided on Thursday with a Togo-flagged livestock vessel has sunk, Turkey's coastal safety authority said. It said all 78 personnel had been evacuated from the ship. Shipping agent GAC said the Russian ship Liman and the other vessel, which it identified as Youzarsif H, collided in fog and low visibility. Private television station NTV said rescue boats and helicopters had been dispatched to the area.

Nuclear-capable missile testfired
India on Thursday successfully testfired its intermediate range, nuclear-capable Agni-III ballistic missile from an island off the coast of the eastern state of Odisha, sources said. Agni-III is one of the most sophisticated and accurate missiles of its class and has already been inducted into armed forces. It is capable of carrying a payload weighing 1.5 tons to a distance of more than 3,000 kilometers.

S. Korea gives warship for $100
South Korea will transfer an aging anti-submarine warship to the Philippines this year in return for just $100, Manila said on Thursday. Outside the United States, its former colonial master and longtime security ally, South Korea has been largest source of Philippine military hardware, from fighters and patrol ships to armored vehicles and army trucks. Manila received two FA-50 light fighters from Seoul on Wednesday and two more will be delivered next month.

JFK diary written after WWII sold
A diary kept by a young John F. Kennedy during his brief stint as a journalist after World War II in which he reflected on Hitler and the weakness of the United Nations sold for more than $700,000 on Wednesday. The diary is mostly typed but includes 12 handwritten pages. It was written in 1945 when the 28-year-old Kennedy was a correspondent for Hearst newspapers and traveled through a devastated Europe.

Red Bull heir may face arrest
Thai prosecutors will ask police to issue an arrest warrant for an heir to the Red Bull fortune if he does not show up to face charges over an alleged hit-and-run that killed a police officer almost five years ago, officials said on Thursday. Vorayuth "Boss" Yoovidhya has been a no-show for meetings with prosecutors on several occasions, complaining through his attorney of unfair treatment or citing duties abroad.

14 held over Paraguay heist
Police said on Wednesday that the number of arrests after Monday's robbery of a private security company in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, had risen to 14. The crime has been attributed to one of Brazil's largest gangs in Sao Paulo. Media said $40 million was stolen but Prosegur, the Spanish company involved, denied this on Tuesday and said the loot was closer to $8 million. One security guard was killed and another was injured, along with three civilians, in the attack.
