People: Briton on a mission to protect the Great Wall

Trained in geography at the University of Liverpool, England, William Lindesay has been captivated by the Great Wall of China since he discovered it in an atlas as a child. He walked 2,470 kilometers exploring the wall during the 1980s before settling down in China in 1990. For the past three decades, he has spent most of his time walking the Great Wall and has grown and developed his own efforts to protect and clean up the cultural relic. Last year, William and his friends collected 288 bags of trash from the site.
