30 telecom fraud suspects arrested

Police have arrested 30 suspects involved in a major cross-border telecom and internet fraud case, according to the Ministry of Public Security on Wednesday. The suspects mimicked the phone numbers of public security organizations and pressured victims into transferring money to their accounts, the ministry said. Based in Indonesia, the suspects targeted people in Yunnan province and swindled victims out of about 6.4 million yuan ($930,000), it said.
