New MKZ Hybrid embodies effortless style, elegance

By Li Fusheng | China Daily | Updated: 2017-04-20 07:13

The new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, launched on April 19, is expected to create fresh opportunities for China's new generation of premium car customers, bringing together higher fuel efficiency with a personally crafted ownership experience.

Lincoln is introducing its first hybrid model into the midsize premium sedan segment - which is one of the largest in China's luxury auto market - after listening to Chinese customers' need for more effortless luxury ownership.

By wrapping Lincoln's advanced hybrid technology together with the distinctive design of the MKZ, more possibilities are created for customers in the world's largest auto market to harness great fuel economy without compromising on luxury.

The model is equipped with a 2.0-liter Atkinson-Cycle I-4 engine, coupled with electronic continuously variable transmission, a permanent-magnet AC-synchronous electric motor and a lithiumion battery.

The model's powertrain offers higher fuel efficiency by switching between the gasoline engine and electric motor. This allows the car to lead the segment with fuel consumption as low as 4.1L/100 kilometers in comprehensive conditions.

The hybrid features a 10.1-inch configurable LCD gauge cluster, featuring the patented SmartGauge and including EcoGuide on the right, helping drivers create more efficient driving habits.

On the left, the cluster displays vehicle data including electricity usage, energy recycling efficiency and battery status.

The new MKZ Hybrid features two new buttons in the center console, including an exclusive L button, a low-speed gear which offers better braking and enhances charging while driving up- and downhill. The ECO button enables fuel-efficient features such as milder air-conditioning, gentler acceleration and faster coasting deceleration.

The Lincoln Way, the automaker's customer-centric service philosophy, has shaped an exclusive warranty for new MKZ Hybrid owners with a new standard eight-year, 160,000 km warranty on core components.
