Item from April 14, 1998, in China Daily: A national education program aiming to help teenagers to better deal with puberty was launched yesterday in Beijing.

Organized by the Ministry of Education, the 10-year program will focus on the physical and emotional changes which occur during puberty and teach teenagers about hygiene and healthcare.

Puberty education was first introduced in middle schools during late 1980s.
