Gun sale lands trader in jail

Around China

A 26-year-old man in Dalian who was jailed for 10 years on March 28 for buying and owning weapons has had the appeal against his sentence rejected. Zhang Huixue was detained on July 29, 2015 for purchasing 18 plastic imitation guns, at a cost of 19 yuan ($2.70) each, which he then sold via his online store. He was later found guilty of owning and trading in weapons that were a threat to society. His mother, Zhang Huixue, launched the appeal, arguing that the guns were toys that posed no threat. Liaoning Provincial High People's Court upheld the original sentence.
