First snowy owl sighting of year

The first snowy owl sighting of the year was made in the region's Habahe county recently. Snowy owls, which are native to Arctic regions in North America and Eurasia, are infrequent visitors to the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, with the last one being spotted more than one year ago. Some experts postulated that the region's improved ecology could be attracting the birds.
