Officers injured in checkpoint shooting

Twelve policemen were injured by gunmen at a road checkpoint in southern Thailand on Monday, police said. The attackers opened fire on the officers at a checkpoint near a roadside market in the Krong Pinang district of Yala province, about 1,100 kilometers south of the capital Bangkok. Two of the officers were seriously wounded.
