98m e-chip passports issued
China has issued more than 98 million e-chip passports, which contain the personal information of the bearer, the Ministry of Public Security said on Saturday. E-chip passports first appeared in March 2012, and 6.6 million were issued that year alone. Each year since, the average number of new passports has grown by 20 percent.
