Transparency promised on probe

Prosecutors have pledged that the judicial inquiry into the fatal shooting of a Chinese man will be handled "with the greatest transparency" and should result in a fair and fast conclusion, Paris police chief Michel Cadot said on Saturday. Liu Shaoyao, a 56-year-old man and a father of five children, was shot dead by police in his apartment in Paris on March 26. The incident sparked outrage and aroused protests by the Chinese community in Paris.
