Divorcee appeals settlement ruling
A man in Chengdu has filed an appeal against a court's decision to award him only 150,000 yuan ($21,800) in a divorce settlement. The man, surnamed Zhang, had sued for divorce on the grounds that his wife, surnamed Hu, refused to contribute to his medical bills after he was diagnosed with cancer. Zhang claimed to have given Hu 780,000 yuan during the seven years they had been together, but she claimed to only have 300 yuan in her bank account. Hu was awarded the marital home, an apartment valued at 340,000 yuan, in the settlement.
