30 Chinese winners make Forbes rating list
Forbes Travel Guide released its annual Star Rating list in February, featuring 30 five-star winners from China.
Except for two from Beijing, the majority are located in southern China, with five in Shanghai, three in Guangzhou, one in Hangzhou, eight in Hong Kong, 10 in Macao and one in Taiwan.
Forbes Travel Guide has defined the hospitality industry's highest standards for excellence since its establishment in 1958 and has one of world's most complete evaluation systems for luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants and spas.
One of the two northern winners, The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street is located in Beijing's Xicheng district. The area is a cluster of banks, high-end shopping malls and other financial enterprises. Hotel guests have easy access to Chang'an Avenue as well as the Forbidden City and other cultural landmarks in Beijing.
Featuring a contemporary design of glass and chrome with Oriental influences, the hotel's 253 guestrooms are well equipped with high-end facilities.
Dining choices include three signature restaurants: Greenfish, which serves a range of international cuisine, Qi, which offers authentic Cantonese and local dishes and Cpe, which offers award-winning Italian-style cuisine. There is also the Crystal Bar and Lounge, where guests can indulge in the signature Ritz-Carlton afternoon tea.
The hotel also features a 1,500-square-meter lifestyle spa and a fully-equipped fitness center, as well as spacious function rooms and a ballroom.
The review of The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street by Forbes Travel Guide is titled "A Best Bet for Business in Beijing".
"We are honored to be crowned as a Forbes Five-Star Hotel, which signifies that our hotel is among the finest establishments in the world to deliver guest service and an experience beyond expectations," said Andrew C. Rogers, general manager of the hotel.
"The achievement truly echoes the service philosophy of our company - to provide the finest personal service and facilities for our guests," Rogers added.
"As you know, we have a beautiful hotel and beautiful facilities, we have a wonderful location, but what brings it to life and makes it special are the people - the employees," Rogers said.
The hotel's staff know how to take care of its guests, taking into account their unique preferences to make them feel they are at home, Rogers said.
