Art: Folk artist creates truly sweet sugar paintings

Dong Shucheng, from Anyang in Henan province, is a city-level inheritor of the sugar-painting technique. The 49-year-old learned the art in childhood. But he did not practice it until three years ago. First, he worked in a company but the enterprise went bankrupt. Then he launched his own with his friends, but that also failed to take off. So he went back to his roots and started visiting temple fairs and scenic areas to produce sugar paintings for a living.
